Festival lights switched on at Intercon

It was all smiles at the Inter-Continental Muscat’s grand Christmas lighting ceremony when Jamie Bowden, the British Ambassador to the Sultanate, accompanied by David Todd, the hotel’s General Manager, switched on the Christmas tree lights to the glee of everyone present and against backdrop of the angelic voices of the British School Muscat’s (BSM) junior choir’s rendition of popular Christmas carols, at the hotel’s lobby on Wednesday.

In comments given to the Observer on the occasion, Todd spoke about what it is like for expats to celebrate Christmas in Oman. He said, “It’s wonderful; it’s my sixth year in Oman with the Inter-Continental group and we have celebrated all of our Christmas in Oman.”
“I think in Oman the people are so open and welcoming and it’s a time to celebrate, regardless of race or religion. It’s just a time to celebrate and in Oman it’s all about family.

“For us, it’s a special day, because the tree lighting ceremony with the Ambassador and the junior choir from the British School Muscat has really started off the festive season here at the Inter-Continental Muscat.”

He said, the Intercon has a full programme scheduled for the festive season and that everybody is welcome to enjoy their lavish buffets and specially organised party nights throughout this period.
